100 Mile Memorial Run - Ohio
Come join the Marines of Always Brothers, as they experience pain, fatigue, pride and mostimportantly, honor.
Why we run
For the fifth year in a row, Always Brothers will be running a 100 mile ultra-run in one day—this time for the second time, in the Columbus-Cincinnati area. This year, on Oct. 17-18th, 2015 we are planning to run from Columbus to Mariemont, near Cincinnati, in 27 hours. Our run will honor the fallen from across the country and raise money both the Captain Swisher Scholarship Fund and the education funds for children who last a parent in the War in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The run is expected to begin at 6:00 am on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 and end on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015 in approximately 9:30 am at Patriot Park, Mariemont, OH. Unlike many ultra-runs, however, this run is not a race. The runners start together and end together as a sign of the unity shared between military members and especially the Marines, who started the organization.
Last year, on July 27-28th, 2014, we ran 100 miles in a loop from Leschi Marina in Seattle, through King and into Pierce Counties and back north to downtown Seattle. The purpose of the event was to honor fallen U.S. service men and women from the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars and their families. Last year’s effort raised approximately $40,000, bringing our four-year total to approximately $220,000, over 95% of which went directly to the charities and individuals we raised money for. Always Brothers only uses monies
